So yesterday, we took our much-awaited shopping trip to the States. Some bitchy lady fingered us when we were waiting in line at the border because we held up the line for thirty seconds to take an awesomely dorky picture. When we pulled into the first mall, some people walked by the car and we were like, “Wow. These are real live Americans. This is so weird.”
Going to Abercrombie & Fitch was a totally strange experience. The store is really dark, so from the outside, it looks like one of those creepy dark stores in Metropolis that nobody ever goes into. Inside, the air all’s scented with cologne and the walls are plastered with posters of shirtless people not really wearing any clothes at all so it’s like, “What exactly are they trying to make me buy?” And as I suspected, most of the clothes are too big for me. Andrew picked out this nice sweater, but when I tried on the smallest one, the sleeves were easily six inches too long. And it was too big on the sides too.
But before we left the mall, we decided that we were going to be forever dissatisfied if we didn’t get something from A&F, so we went back and bought t-shirts. We tried out Fierce just for fun. It wasn’t bad. It is important to note that there is no creepy man on the bottle.
At Seattle Premium Outlets, Andrew and I found The Perfect Jeans at Oakley. It was great to see them amongst a sea of Dragged Along A Bumpy Dirt Road jeans at other stores. They were a medium-dark blue with some distressing down the legs, nice back pocket design and this cool stitching down the top half of the leg. We were both totally going to buy them, especially since they were only $32. But they didn’t have our size. Bah! Instead, we bagged some jeans at Levi’s.
I really loved the Converse outlet. They had Chucks in all different colours and patterns! It was heaven. I was really torn because I had trouble deciding which colour I wanted, so I ended up getting the black ones again, since they go with everything. I kinda wish I went for charcoal instead. Andrew got some skater shoes there too. Some random nice lady gave him a $10 off coupon. Yay!
On the way back to the border, we stopped off at Jack In The Box to get the real American fast food experience. It was actually not bad. We bought a Jack In The Box car antenna ball for Miranda’s car to complete the experience. Miranda also got this crazily fatty chocolate chip cookie cheesecake thing that was really good, but really horrible all at the same time.
Then, we went to Safeway and bought lots of cereal. It’s weird how they sell a lot of stuff $10 for 10. You can buy ten 4L pop jugs for $10. It’s insane. And there were all these 3 chocolate bars for 99 cents deals too.
I didn’t actually end up buying very much, but it was still totally fun nonetheless. Especially doing Snakes On A Sudoku in the car. Must do it again next year!
